OSMA Membership Benefits
If you are the adviser of a scholastic journalism program in Ohio, the Ohio Scholastic Media Association is an exceptional resource for you. Membership in the Ohio Scholastic Media Association is by school.
Membership cost is $100 per school year and includes perks for all of the publication programs at your school.
Benefits include:
- journalism students at participating schools are eligible to enter annual individual contests in over 50 categories
- yearbooks are eligible for annual contests
- news publications can submit their work for overall contests and critiques
- students and advisers can attend regional workshops and participate in the state convention
- advisers receive regular communication about contests, upcoming events, and other opportunities within the state of Ohio
- students are eligible to become part of the OSMA Student Board and help to plan the fall workshops and the state convention
Advisers, if you are also a member of the Journalism Education Association, your students are eligible to enter the Ohio student Journalist of the Year competition. One student each year is chosen as the Ohio Student Journalist of the Year and awarded a $1000 college scholarship.
