Student Board Representatives

Andie Madding
  • Andrea Madding– I am a Junior at Lakota East High School in Cincinnati, OH. I am the co-editor of both of the Culture and Broadcasting sections in Spark, our school magazine. This is my first year on the OSMA Student Board and I am excited to have an opportunity to be a part of this group! I love journalism and spending time getting to know stories and learning more about my community. I spend my free time golfing for our school and participating in many clubs and groups such as Hope Squad, Hawk Ambassadors, and Drama Club. I enjoy keeping myself busy and meeting as many new people as possible.

Kamryn Drake
  • Kamryn Drake– I am a junior at Rutherford B. Hayes High School in Delaware, OH. I’m currently a staff writer for our school newspaper, The Talisman. This will be my first year on the OSMA student board. I am looking forward to meeting new people and going deeper in the journalism world. Outside of the paper, I mainly work and paint. I have also been a part of our AFJROTC program and our colorguard. 
Mia Hilkowitz
  • MIA HILKOWITZ– I am a Senior at Lakota East High School in Cincinnati, OH. I am currently the Editor-in-Chief for our school magazine, Spark. This will be my second year on the OSMA student board and first year as President. I am looking forward to the year ahead. Outside of the paper, I am the President of the Lakota East Environmental Advocates Forum, a member of the Senior Leadership team for Hawk Ambassadors, and play club soccer. I also work as a barista at a local coffee shop. My goal on the OSMA student board is to improve communication between students and the board, and increase involvement in student media.

Kate Farr
  • KATE FARR – I am a senior at Antwerp Local Schools in Antwerp, Ohio. Currently, I serve as the Editor-in-Chief of The Archer Yearbook under my advisor Amy Sorrell. This is my second year on the OSMA Student Board and my first serving as president. Additionally, I am the first and, currently, only Ohio student on the Quill and Scroll Student Advisory Board. Besides journalism, I participate in other activities such as theater, cross country, choir, FTA, and NHS (where I serve as president of my school’s chapter). I am also quite passionate about writing, caring for plants, reading, hiking and running in nature, as well as using my voice to speak out on issues that I am passionate about in my free time.

Kostas Volas
  • Kosta Volas– I am a junior at Hoover High School in North Canton, Ohio. I am currently the Managing Editor of The Viking Views magazine, under the advisory of Mrs. Rachelle Ogilvie. Also, I work on the broadcast news team for NCtv News. On the other hand, I am heavily involved with the arts at Hoover.  I participate in choir and theatre inside and outside of school, along with dancing at Inspire Performing Arts Center and doing Greek Folk dance at my church. In addition, I run cross country, participate in Speech and Debate, play basketball, and play soccer. This is my first year on the OSMA student board, and I am extremely excited as well as being humbled to serve on the board.

Isis Durkin
  • Isis Durkin – I am a senior at Hoover High School in North Canton, Ohio. Currently, I am a copy editor for the Viking Views magazine at my school. I love to write, whether it be journalistic or creative. Aside from that, I am heavily involved in my school’s theater program, serving this year as stage manager. Outside of school, I spend most of my time reading, working, and participating in various leadership programs. This is my second year on the OSMA student board, and I am excited to be part of connecting students through journalism!

Alexa Ogilvie
  • Alexa Ogilvie– I am a senior at Hoover High School and I am one of three Editors-In-Chief of our paper, The Viking Views. I have always loved journalism and plan to continue my journalism career into college. Aside from the paper, I run track and formerly cross country, am a part of our Broadcast program, and play for our varsity Overwatch eSports team. I am so excited to serve on the OSMA board for my second year!

Audrey Allen
  • Audrey Allen– I am a junior at Lakota East High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. I am the Photography Editor of our paper, Spark. This is my first year on the OSMA Student Board. I am looking forward to meeting new people and learning more about journalism. I have been cheering for 3 years for my school and dancing for 2 years on my school’s dance team. Outside of school I work at the YMCA as a Child Care Helper. I love to read and be creative. I plan to go into a career in marketing and journalism. I am honored to serve on the board and hope to connect the Student Board and the Adult Board.

Zach Shultz
  • Zach Shultz– I am a junior at Lakota East High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. I am one of the co-editors of the package section of our magazine, Spark. This is my first year on the OSMA Student Board and I am looking forward to connecting with other journalists. I am in the drumline in East’s marching band, which I’ve done for three years. I enjoy camping with my family and hanging out with my friends. I am happy to be a part of this board and I hope to keep good communication between everybody.
